OK, so this is the beginning of my Halloween posts. I'm not entirely sure how these will go or where they will end up, but you'll be along for the ride as I get ready for Halloween.
One of the main reasons I wanted to do these posts was to show the amount of trial & error that goes into our Halloween costumes. Very rarely is it a smooth ride & almost always, we are scraping by at the end. It's a lot of work but, I would never stop doing it.
I didn't do much shopping last month, & with my massive procrastination of getting up last months monthly posts, I just decided to combine it with this months.
The past month has pretty much been all about shoes & school shopping. I went way, way overboard extreme on shoes this month. It's actually kind of embarrassing.
Those of you that have been following me for a while know that this is not my normal spending. Those of you that are new to my random purchases, please don't think that I buy $100 shoes everyday. This is way not the norm for me!
Anyway, I have been changing up my style a little bit over the past few months & found some really great chicer pieces to go with that. I also finally feel like I'm prepared for school (so brace yourself for an abundance of black at the end).
As I type this I have 2 days before I start school! I'm at that point where I'm equally nervous & excited! It seems to have come up so quick. But, I think I'm ready! (I didn't end up getting this posted until after I already started school due to the sheer amount of chaos)
I thought that it would be fun to post my birthday wish list up here
(so you can all see the way over priced stuff I have been lusting over that I would never end up buying for myself)
There is no way that I will end up getting all of this; actually, more then likely, I will get a new camera (because it's the only thing that I actually need) & maybe the book or film. But it's always fun to fantasize about what you want for your birthday.
Fashion Book that I saw at the book store (I have no idea who it's by); Hello Kitty Instax Mini Film; New Camera (I'm thinking about this Canon Powershot SX40); Phosphor Watch in pink on pink leather; Nespresso Citiz w/ Milk Machine (I didn't get what all the hype of this was about until I tried a cup of coffee from it, it's HEAVEN! so worth the money); Iphone with Bunny Case (I just want an Iphone because you can get tons of really cool cases for it everywhere, but seeing as how I have T-mobile, I doubt that will happen. I have noticed that you can get the bunny cases for SG2's though, so maybe I'll get one of those eventually)
What cool stuff have you been lusting after lately?
There are depictions of alcohol in this post! I am over 21 & do not promote underage drinking.
I knew that I had a fairly busy weekend planned so, I decided to take my camera with me & post a weekend in pictures. A lot of what I did was shopping & those pieces will be included in my random purchases this month (yes, I will be making sure to get that up at the end of the month). I decided to leave them out of this post because it already had a million pictures.
I took a lot more pictures on Friday but, that's just because I did more interesting things that day. Saturday & Sunday were spent shopping to get ready for school in 2 weeks!
I can't believe that I start school in just 2 weeks! Not that long ago it seemed so far off & now it's just around the corner. I was freaking out a little bit because I felt really unprepared but, after this weekend I feel like I'm in a good place.
I still haven't found the perfect shoes though, so that's making me a little nervous. I have two semi-ok options but, I'm not 100% sold on either just yet. I want something that isn't black, is stylish & chic but a little rock n' roll, & I can stand in for 12+ hours a day; plus I have to wear socks with them (that part is becoming near impossible to find!).
Anyway, let's get on with my weekend...
*FRIDAY*
Starting my day off with cartoon character overload!
Yumi decided that he wanted to bug me the whole time I was trying to take pictures for this so, I guess he wanted to be include as a special guest star. He's so lucky, a quick bath & cute black collar & he looks stunning. Unfortunately, his mommy takes a bit more work then that.
This outfit wan't planned & just kind of came along as I put things together but, I love how it came out. Then I kind of realized that it was a far more successful version of my Boho Rocker look I attempted a few moths ago. While they are totally different looks, this one portrays the feeling I was trying to go for with that one. (if that makes any sense)
I know that I usually go a little crazy when Ulta has their 21 days of beauty. This time around, I just didn't see anything that I really wanted except for the Stila Smudge Stick liners & I already have the 3 colors that I like from them. There wasn't much of anything that caught my attention or I thought that I really needed. So I didn't even get anything from that. I did however pic up a bunch of random things here & there. Plus, I had a few things leftover to review from the Wet N Wild sale last month. I ended up finding 2 new favorites + a few amazing things I really love this month!
Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner- Target $5 each
(I got the daily treatment conditioner for free)
I instantly noticed a difference in my hair when I used this, & I mean instantly! The second I put the shampoo on my hair, I could tell that it was different from anything else I had ever used. It was thick & creamy & glided through my hair like butter! When I was rinsing it out, my fingers just glided through my hair like it was silk & I had never touched it with bleach or heat. The conditioner seemed slightly thicker then normal but, nothing to be in awe of. (I am sure that the conditioner did contribute to the end result) After I blow dried my hair, I instantly noticed that my split ends were less noticeable, I had fewer flyaways, & my hair felt so much softer! All of this was after just after 1 use! My hair felt thicker but, not weighed down too. Now, I haven't noticed as much of an impact since my first use but, I can say that this is one of the few shampoos I have ever been impressed with. Funny how I found this just days after filming my hair video & telling you that I've never found a daily shampoo I loved.
I have really been loving my Wet N Wild Walking on Eggshells & Sweet as Candy trios this month. I know that I have been doing a ton of looks with the Wet N Wild trios lately but, they are just so convenient & really great quality. I have also been getting back into pin-up style looks lately. They can be tweeked to go with anything. They're simple, quick, & easy to do. Plus, they just look great with my current spring style & keep my face looking sultry but still springtime fresh.

This month I shopped a ton! I don't know what came over me. So this is going to be an extra long, picture heavy post. I have felt like I was in a rut for a while now & have been wearing pretty much the same few outfits for a couple of months. I think that a big part of that was that I haven't been going out as much as I normally do. So I haven't been getting dressed up & have been in casual wear most of the time lately. I have just felt like I need to start mixing things up again & get out of wearing a plain t-shirt, jeans, & my chucks everyday. I just need to try something new & start being more adventurous in my daily wear again instead of just my club clothes. So, I picked up a lot of stuff that I've never really worn before but have been seeing on other people & loving. I have already been feeling better & not so slumpy (I think I just made up that word). I have also been getting back into nautical & retro pin-up type stuff this past month. Last spring I was obsessed with nautical stuff & I have gone in & out of pin-up phases since I was a teen. I just feel like shopping this month has brought me back to my adventurous fashion sense that I used to have (ie- a different style everyday).
The second I saw this at Target I had to have it! I can't help but giggle & smile every time I use it. It adds a bit of cute whimsy to my morning coffee routine & it puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day. It's silly & makes me happy, & I suggest everyone run out & get one right now!
The past few days have been all about my wedges! I have been centering every outfit around them. I feel like a slight obsession may end up taking over my closet this spring/summer (not like I really have any more space).
For this outfit, I wanted to mix a little bit of cutesy spring with my leopard Steve Madden wedges.
I wanted to do 2 looks for St. Patty's Day this year. I wanted one that was more of the traditional look that I do everyday but in greens & one that was bright & more of a spring time look. I almost never where green but always love it so much when I do it for a tutorial. I really think that it is a highly under rated eyeshadow color. I just always seem to forget about it for some reason.
The first look I wanted to do was a sparkly, smokier look. Something more based on the type of look that I wear everyday. I wanted something that had a big range of different greens & a bit of shimmering gold too. I am really happy with how this came out (both with & without the black). It's a great way to make a brighter, bolder color more wearable.

I wanted the second look to be more of a spring green styled look. Something brightening & light. As soon as I saw the WNW trio, I knew it was perfect. I decided to go with a pin-up styled look so I could keep the lips a brighter color. The highlight shade is amazingly beautiful & adds so much to anything it's paired with.

I am so sorry that this took me so long to get up but, got overwhelmed by other blogs that I had to get up for the end of the month & I had a family issue that I had to help with!
Anyway, on to the post.
Most of the time, I don't really want to think about what I'm going to be wearing. I just want to get dressed & get on with my day. (of course this doesn't apply to when I'm going to the club, that's my super fun fantasy dress up time!) However, I don't want to look like a slob or like I have no style simply because I'm only running errands.
After years of being a t-shirt & jeans girl, I have found the perfect formula for making it look like a pulled together stylish outfit.
*This mostly applies to the fall & spring months where it's chilly but not cold.*
My bird dish! I keep a necklace (not pictured), 2 rings, a bracelet, & a simple pair of studs in here. These items go with everything & it keeps me from digging through my jewelry box trying to find something to go with my outfit. I can just grab & go.
(this month is a picture heavy post!) My beauty purchases were all of the place this month. I just kind of picked up cool stuff as I saw it. I got to try out a few things that I have been interested in for a long time too. I went kind of nuts on the nail polishes this month. I bought a ton of new Sinful Colors but, just kind of gave a brief overview & a few details on some special ones, since most of you already know how much I love those polishes. There were a few Loves this month but honestly, mostly misses; especially when it came to nail polishes (other then my Sinful Colors). On A Side Note: I have noticed that the price of drugstore makeup & polishes have seriously gone up in price recently & it's really bothering me. It's getting to the point that you might as well just go for the high-end brands because there simply isn't enough of a price difference. I don't see where many of these brands feel that their products are good enough quality or unique enough to be charging these prices. It is getting to the point that I don't really feel like buying most drugstore brands is worth it. I will probably be sticking to my cheaper drugstore brands (mostly Sinful Colors, Essence & Wet N Wild) & just start investing the little bit more in higher end products for the most part. (this is something that I know I complain about multiple times in this post & that's part of the reason that I wanted to talk about this, plus I just think it's ridiculous)
A random thing that I wanted to talk about is my re-found love for foundation sponges.
I pretty much stopped using foundation sponges ever since I got my Sephora Natural Foundation Brush (& many more since then). I love my brushes & never really thought about my sponges at all. Earlier this month all of my brushes were dirty so, instead of washing a brush, I was lazy & grabbed a sponge. Right away I wondered why I ever stopped using them & have been using a sponge pretty much every day since. I get beautiful coverage without it looking like I am wearing a ton of makeup (normally a big problem around my nose & mouth where I have a lot of redness). The makeup blends into my skin so much nicer & really stuck to places I normally have issues with (once again, around my nose. where makeup just likes to just wipe away). Plus the finish is so much nicer when I apply it this way. I have also found that my foundation seems to last longer before it gets super oily & looks like a mess. Despite the fact that I love my brushes, I think that I'm a reverse convert (not really sure what that means). Sometimes we get stuck in these loops of thinking the newer way must be better, when the good old fashioned way of doing things has been around so long for a reason.
I didn't do a whole lot of shopping this month due to saving up for a big purchase (listed last). I did manage to pick up a few bits & pieces along the way & a late Christmas present finally came in.
To be quite honest, I was not really happy with how this tutorial came out. I have done this look fairly often in the past several months & never had trouble with it like I did while filming this. Normally the taupe color is much more dominate & the dark shade goes on much easier. With that being said, I still think that it looks nice. You can easily control how dark or smokey this is by adding more or less of the darker shade. This makes the look adaptable for work or just everyday life.

Last week I filmed my Get Ready With Me video while I prepared go to an 80's hair metal event. Here are a ton of pictures of the makeup & outfit from the night. For hair & makeup I wanted to mix a little bit of Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe & Dee Snider from Twisted Sister. I really wanted to mix the essence of both but have it look nice on & not too much like a bad costume. For my outfit I really just wanted to go overboard & have it be completely over-the-top. I decided to go with my goldish shiny leggings (I couldn't decide between these & my silver jeans, so thanks to my twitter girls for helping me out) & my awesome new boots. Then I decided to go even more overboard & add my fringed bejeweled top. I got this back in my DJ days for an Iggy Pop look I created & haven't had the chance to wear it much since. I love this shirt but, it doesn't really go with too many outfits, so I was super excited to wear it.
I know that this is a little late for the Fall/Winter season but, I have really been loving this look for the past couple of weeks. It looks so great with a warm sweater or big scarf & leather jacket, which seems to be all I have been wearing lately.
Hope you enjoy!

This year I decided to do 2 looks for Valentine's Day. The glowing, perfect version of you that guys love & the sexy, sultry look you love to wear. I hope that you'll give them both a try! The angle on the Sultry look is a little weird & I didn't notice until I was editing. So, sorry about that. Hopefully it's not too hard to see what I'm doing. I will make sure to watch out for that in the future.

I wanted to do another day in pictures post but, I wanted this one to be about something different. So I decided to do a behind the scenes type of thing. Kind of a day in pictures when I'm at work.
The perfect opportunity came up last month when I did a shoot with my friend Anthony Norris.
While I was pondering what all I wanted to include in my post, I decided that I kind of wanted to make it a guide for working on a photo-shoot as well. Little tips & tricks that I have learned throughout the years. As well as stuff dealing with my set up & other things like that.
I also wanted to show that working on a photo-shoot is a lengthy process. It's more then just the time you spend at the actual shoot. You end up spending the whole day prepping, doing the actual shoot, & then cleaning up afterwards.
Then I decided to throw in a playlist just for good measure.
So, because I decided I wanted to do a million things in this post, it's insanely long.
It has a ton of pictures & a crap ton of miscellaneous stuff.
For some odd, random reason I decided that I wanted to do a boho chic rocker type of look one day.
I didn't really plan it out so, I kind of threw it together in just a few minutes.
I am pretty happy with how it came out but, I do think that I would change a few things for next time. (Maybe add some feather earrings & a few more long necklaces, plus probably wear different boots)
I think that something like this is perfect for the fall & slightly warmer winter days.
(please feel free to ignore my super messy desk & bad nails)
So here is my first of the new monthly series Complimentary Quickies!
These are designed to be easy, fast looks that go with pretty much anything. It doesn't matter if you're wearing jeans & a t-shirt to run errands or running a little late for work & need to look nice fast.
Most of these looks will be done with palettes. This is just for ease of use & shorter time. It's much simpler to grab one little palette, then dig through your drawer looking for a certain color.
I will also be using more sheer lipsticks to save time on lining your lips.

Let me know what you think about these looks & if you have any suggestions.
I decided to make my random purchases posts kind of a monthly thing (it will depend on if I have enough each month). I really didn't do any specific shopping this month or look for anything in particular. I just kind of found a few random things that I really liked & picked up a couple of non-exciting things that I needed.
Although, the saddest thing did happen this month. My Sanrio store closed. (pouty sad face) It put me the worst funk. That store was my go to place when I was having a bad day or needed a little pick me up. Whenever I wanted something cute & girly I went there. The saddest part is that I didn't find out until the day it was closing, so pretty much everything was already gone & I didn't even get something pretty as a farewell. I just feel like a piece of my life is missing now. Totally over exaggerated & silly but, I really loved that store. Now I have to rely on the random Hello Kitty stuff at various stores to get my cute fix.
Ok, enough whining, let's get on to the random stuff I bought this month.
It's time for my very first written monthly review! I like that I was able to get much more detailed about things without having to worry about the video being too long. I also liked that I could kind of write reviews as I used the products & didn't have to worry about forgetting something a few weeks later. Comment down below & let me know if you like this better or would like me to bring back the videos. I did a decent amount of makeup shopping this month & am really excited for all the new stuff coming out. New colors, new formulas, & completely innovative new products. I am trying to take it a little slow on buying up a bunch of new stuff until some more reviews come out though. So it might be a few months before I'm able to tell you what I think about all of this cool stuff that's coming out. (One of my resolutions this year is to be a little wiser on spending my money) I did not include my new Kat Von D palette in this post because I pretty much went over everything I thought about it in my other post/video. You can check that out here.
Ok, so I fully admit that I have a slight obsession with finding the perfect day planner. This has been going on for over a decade & I have tried a whole lot of planners during that time. I will be talking about some of my favorites from over the years & why I like them so much.
My planners are an important part of my life & kind of help me keep everything together. Every morning I get my coffee, sit down (outside during the summer, which just starts your day off so nice), & go over my things to do for the day. I write down the things I need to accomplish, review appointments I have coming up, & generally look at what everything looks like for the day. This 5 minutes just for me helps mentally prepare me for the day & starts my day off positive & organized. It's a few minutes of me time that sets the tone for the rest of the day. Then at night, I sit down with my planner again & go over everything. I write in any appointments that are on random little notes, make sure that I write down anything I know I need to do the next day, write out everywhere I went & everything I did for that day, & go through my list of things to do & check things off. For me, this helps me feel accomplished & ready for my day to end. No sitting up at night wondering if I remembered to do something or worrying about an appointment. Doing this just helps me relax & mentally know that the day is over & I'm ready for tomorrow.
I am the type of person that will forget everything 10 minutes later if I don't write it down (I have to physically write it down, typing it in on my phone or laptop just doesn't work). It doesn't matter if it's something I need to do or a special occasion or an appointment. Because of this, I expect a lot from my planners & have very specific needs when it comes to organizing my life. I tend to have a lot of different aspects of my life going on all at once, tons of to do lists, a lot of appointments & other stuff, as well as writing the day to day things that I did. So, I must have enough writing space to organize all of this.
My 2 absolute requirements for a planner are:
Full weekends- I can't deal with the split Saturday/Sunday in planners. These are my busiest days & 3 or 4 lines really isn't going to cut it. Of course this automatically limits my choices greatly because most planners do this for some horrible reason. I was surprised that many daily planners split the weekends now too. When will they learn that people like to enjoy their weekends & have more plans on Saturday & Sunday then during the work week?
Monthly overviews- I know that I'm not the type of person to page through 30 days to see what my schedules like. I need a quick overview or I end up double booking on accident. I also use these to keep track of when bills are due.
When I saw this babe pop up on the Sephora facebook page last week I instantly knew that I had to have it as soon as possible! (When I went to my Sephora it wasn't even on the floor yet, I had to make the girl dig through boxes in the back to get it for me!) Of course this also meant that I had to use every single color in it at the next available opportunity! Then in came the perfect opportunity, my friend Anthony's 80's/Disco birthday party! I don't think that 2 things could have gone together better. I ended up using every color except for the green & loved how it came out so much I decided to recreate it in a tutorial. This is very similar to the tutorials I did for the Urban Decay palettes but, I did leave out one of the colors & ended up using a few other items. I was more concentrated on making the best of my palette rather then trying to exclusively use just this for the whole look.
Look How Pretty!
One thing that I did notice with this palette is that it isn't quite as buttery & pigmented as her other palettes that I have. However, this is the first one that I have bought since the re-design so I don't really know if that's how all of them are now. It is still an excellent palette & a great value for those of us that love all the crazy, extreme, bright colors & want more then just mattes. This was the first time I have tried the Kat Von D eyeliner & I feel that it is very similar to the Urban Decay liners. It smudges & blends well but isn't really suited for the waterline. I just had a lot of trouble getting it to go on & it was gone in a matter of minutes. I still like it for smudging on the top lash line or under the bottom lashes though.

I know that it is a great many peoples goal each New Year to eat healthier or lose weight. Sometimes this can feel like a horribly daunting task but, I'm here to share a few super easy tips to make it simply flow into your regular life with little to no hassle. This is not about cutting out everything you love but rather about making healthier choices easier & seeing what you eat.
I know that the name is kind of cheesy but I couldn't really think of another name for this post.
I'm basically going to be talking about how you can use different candles to create productivity zones in your home. It sounds kind of silly but, I swear that it works wonders! Of course, you don't have to use candles. Any scent item will work. Wax warmers, wall plug-ins, oil burners, even those little scent pods or a room/linen spray. I particularly use candles so, that's what I will be discussing.
I sort of stumbled across doing this in early 2011 when I started to really get back into candles. I have always kind of liked the way that they look around the house as a decorative accent. Of course they make your house smell good too but, you can really use different scents around your house to create different moods.
A scent is one of the easiest ways to trigger a specific memory. Like how the smell of a roast turkey will instantly make you think of Thanksgiving dinner or your grandmothers cookie recipe will make you think of her (just examples of course). So why not train your brain to associate a specific scent with a certain task?
I found a lot of great products this year & some even beat out some of my long time favorites. There are still some of my old standbys that made the list too though. I tried to do at least one product from every category in my beauty routine.
Sorry for mis-speaking a few times, I was trying to get through a lot of products in a short amount of time. Also, that I got mixed around & ended up doing half my face stuff at the end. I guess my well thought out list didn't work too well.

I think that there are going to be a ton of great products in 2012! I can't wait to start trying them!
I have been trying to cut back my makeup spending lately so I don't have a ton of new products this month. I have found some amazing new things that have really improved my beauty routine. I also tried some new brands that I've never used before & ended up really liking. Also, for some reason my camera was picking up some strange noise that I didn't hear until it uploaded. So sorry for that.

After years of having to deal with office supply stores idea of pink leather being a girly creative planner or the adorable but tiny Korean planners I decided to make my own this year.
I have had tons of planners over the years (I will be doing a post in the coming weeks about my favorites & why) & honestly none of them have really been everything I need & want.
I wanted something that was adorable & girly but had enough room for all my plans, to do, & everything else.
